The Office--DONE

Yeah! I am marking off another room as done. The Office.

When we first moved in 15 years ago, it was our 3rd bedroom and we used it as an office. Then when it was time for Daisy to get her own room, we moved her into it and moved our office into our kitchen--I think it was maybe officially supposed to be a breakfast nook--we for sure never had space to put an actual table there. Here is our old office.

That space now no longer exists--it is the start of a staircase and the entrance to Daisy's Harry Potter space under the stairs...more on that later :)

So Daisy's old room (Our New Office) was painted green with purple flowers, and personalized with her name.

It was often a catch all room so it was usually overflowing...and here even more so as we had to stuff all of our contents into our 3 old bedrooms while the original hardwood floors were being redone.

Once Daisy officially got moved into DJ's old room, we have now been able to turn this room back into our Office. The room got a major makeover.

The new color is called Russian Blue, it is sort of a slate blue. And the carpet is dark blue...oh and the curtains are blue...sort of a calm room altogether.

I decided to add some Mario Bros. clings for decoration. I had bought them for DJ's room when he was 10 but he quickly outgrew them as a tween. I love them and so decided to use them again.

The closet above is now where I have a place to store my scout stuff and sewing stuff...I probably need a few dressers or something to store craft stuff....but that's a little ways down the road.

We set up our desks...it's really nice to have 2 stations.

And while I was cleaning out everything I got to organize my sewing supplies. I had bought a couple of old sewing boxes for me and Daisy...I am glad to finally be able to fill and use them.

So...The Office is DONE.  And another room will be tackled soon...

Daisy's Room Update

Counting Daisy's room DONE.

Daisy is now in what used to be DJ's room. When we first moved in, it was the first room I painted for my little baby boy of 3 months. He "helped" me paint...by pulling the paint tray over on top of him one day and all over his bouncer and the carpet...a very memorable day for me! His room was blue.
This is Daisy's original room. I don't have a good "before" shot. This is in the midst of construction when everything got piled into all of the old bedrooms. It was green with purple Daisy's.

This is DJ's old room--also piled up with stuff during construction. It was blue with a dark blue trim and white ceiling.

We cleared out the room and prepped it for paint. The bunk bed my dad built for DJ when he was 10. It is never coming out of the room in one piece :)  very big and very solid.

DJ helped me paint again. Daisy wanted a sort of minty green. The color changes a lot depending on the lighting.

Daisy had A LOT of different ideas for her room like splashes of paint everywhere and chalkboard paint....we decided on a few creative touches.

We painted a bulletin board with white glitter and blue chevrons to match a blue rug she picked out.
We prepped and painted a mirror with a gold frame. We turned it ultra pure white.
She loves paint and experiments frequently with drops and splashes. She ended up hanging a few pieces in her room over her windows.

Here is Daisy's NEW ROOM. I'm sure we'll add a few things here and there, but I am considering her room as done and ready to move on to the next.

Now...let's see what room is next...

Update--a Year Later--DJ's room

WOW! Life really gets in the way of finishing up a house :)

Can't believe it has been a year since I have updated here. Once we moved back in and started  actually living in our new space it was/is hard to set everything aside to work on the house.

But we have managed slowly. A few rooms are done or almost done.

Here is the update on DJ's room. I am counting his room DONE.

Here are the BEFORE picture:  This was my and Jason's room. I had painted the flowers the day before I went into labor with Daisy. It was hard to paint over those.

This is the MIDDLE: DJ learned how to paint! I did all of the cutting in and he did all of the prep work and rolling. He did a good job.

Here is the AFTER:  DJ's new room. He is king of his castle! He has been collecting signs for a couple of years and we finally can hang them. He also got a wall unit to store and display all of his video game consoles. He is trying to collect all of the classics.
