Walk-in Closet

This is our bedroom hallway and it serves as my walk-in closet, dressing area, and laundry room. My clothes are in the linen closet and the hallway is usually filled with dirty laundry and clothes that need to be hung up somewhere.

In the addition I will have an actual walk-in closet and a real laundry room...and this can go back to being just a hallway. When you live in a small house, every room becomes a multi-purpose room!

Back Porch

This is where the stairs will be heading up to our master bed/bath...no more back door here. This has also been an outside pantry for cans...soup and soda.

Getting Started

We have started the process of doubling the size of our house.  We currently live in a 3 bed 1 bath 1000 sq. ft. 1952 post war bungalow....with 4 people...that means about only 250 sq ft per person....we are busting out of our seems and about to add another 1000 sq ft!  It's exciting and horrible.

My good friend, Heather, recently added to their house and it was fun for me to read her blog and therapeutic for her...so I am going to copy her idea and blog about the process too. I think it will be a fun and helpful tool to help me see where we started, where we are going, and how much of a difference the addition will make to all of us--in the midst of the chaos.

SO...here is the start.  I'll be taking some before pictures as reference and adding them in here.

At this point, our plans have already been created and they are at the city in the permit process. I signed with the contractor in August....so 5 months so far...

I have started thinking about what needs to get cleaned and packed up here at the house for when demo starts.
