Almost There

It's really just about done. A few more minor issues to deal with and then we can start the whole moving in process and then we will start redoing all of the "old" house. Oh and of course there is still the yard to deal with at some point...Home ownership comes with  a never ending task list :)  Thank you God for everything!  We are kind of just waiting on the electric company to turn back on our power so we can start moving back in.

Cabinet doors and Mexican tile back splash installed today!  Just what I was hoping for!
White marble counter tops!

Finally a fridge for 4!  We have been using the same fridge I bought for my first apartment in 1994!  This one is almost double the size and has 2 ice makers!

Color Me Mine

The progress on the house seems both fast and slow these days. We have been adding a lot of color and getting down to the finish work, but at the same time we are still not able to live in the house anymore--no toilet, no hot water, no sink, no place to be--so that part is hard. They say 2 or 3 weeks...but they have been saying that for 2 or 3 weeks ;)

We have been crazy busy with summer stuff so this is not a complete update, just what I can grab at this moment from my newly dead phone (so sad) before I recycle it and get a new one.

I am IN LOVE with my new bathroom! Jason says it feels luxuriously big like a hotel bathroom :)

I designed the shower :)  I was going for an Art Deco feel.

Daisy is painting her Harry Potter cubby under the stairs.

Laundry is green, powder is blue. New blue floor below.

A Blank Slate

Not sure what day it is...forever it seems since we started... Now is the the fun and the hard part...getting it all to look the way I want it to and then moving us all back in and dealing with the old house where every room will be re-purposed: cleaned out, repainted, and moved back into.

Since the last update, we have had all three layers of stucco on the exterior and the house will be painted on the outside next week to match our existing house.

The doors and windows have all been installed and trimmed.

The interior has been drywalled and primed. Next step is painting which I am mostly doing myself--a little sweat equity in our house :)

And then the flooring, cabinets, plumbing, electric, and BAM..it's done...or at least I'd like to think so.

Right now it is a big white canvas of a house just waiting for some color.

The stucco is white right now, but it will be blue soon.
White interior living room...still deciding on what color the walls will be.

White interior kitchen...yellow and white with blue backsplash.
Tiles for the kitchen backsplash.
Tiles for the Master Bath.

Original utility sink-1952 cast iron. I had it sand blasted and I am repainting and it will go into my laundry room.
I love it.
Blue tiles for the downstairs bath and laundry.

Cotton Candy House

Day 121: My house looks absolutely edible :)

They have been working like crazy! On Memorial Day they popped up the entire back porch cover! They have now installed all of my exterior doors and windows--all wood to match the existing house :) They have installed the insulation--hence the cotton candy look. Today they wrapped the house to get it ready for stucco. I think tomorrow they start drywall. The materials were sitting in my driveway when we came home today!  It looks like the end of July as a completion date...

This is looking UP in the stairwell.

The Master Bed

What we saw when we pulled in today. They covered the entire addition with paper.

Day 101: The Set Up for Greater Things to Come

So, here we are...still plugging along on the house. These last couple of weeks the house has been getting its internal parts worked on like plumbing, electric, air, and cable. They also have now poured more concrete for the back patio, porch, and step out of the house. Next week hopefully comes the windows and doors.

It's been a long time since I signed the contract back in August...but this building part has been going great!  They have said they think everything will be done by Mid July...we'll see :)

The Laundry Room
The Kitchen

Daisy's new bedroom--like Harry Potter.

Master Bath sink and bathtub

Master Bath shower

Daisy REALLY wanted to mark in the cement and it just happened that she is at Outdoor Ed and the Guys are in DC...so I had to make marks for everyone.

Daisy really wanted to put her footprints in. She said I should do it for her.

I added them on both sides.

The laundry exterior door. I am getting a Dutch door here! So I can set my pies to cool off of the ledge...just like they always do in the cartoons!

The back porch...now it will be a quite, shady sitting spot.

Just shows how tall the new house is compared to the garage!

Our life in 700 square feet means that we end up sprawling out the front door and out into the yard.

Shopped for carpet this last week....gonna choose green...now have to find one that we can afford and is still soft and cozy.

This area rug caught my eye for the new living room...
